Raymond Edward Magness

Raymond Edward Magness, 80, of Hackett, Arkansas passed away Monday, September 2, 2024 in his home. He was born November 16, 1943 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Ralph Warren and Mary Dean (Story) Magness. He was a retired plant operator for Powerine Oil Refinery and the City of Fort Smith, a U.S. Army veteran (1961-1967) and he attended Amity Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Magness; one son, Darren Magness and wife, Linda of Hackett; one daughter, Melinda Hiser and husband, David of Fort Smith; one brother, Lanny Magness and wife, Beverly of Shreveport, LA; three sisters, Mary Givens of Fort Smith, Sharon Bean and husband, Jim of Farmington and Debra Magness of Dallas, TX and ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren “Sonny” Magness and Jerry Magness.

The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Inurnment will be at Old Union Cemetery in Hackett. Arrangements are under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
