Raymond Miner Steele II

Raymond Miner Steele II, a devoted family man, compassionate paramedic, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully in the embrace of his loving family at Mercy Rogers on August 21, 2026. Born on November 2, 1964, in Duncan, Oklahoma, Raymond was the cherished son of the late Ollie Lee Steele and Raymond Miner Steele I, both of whom predeceased him.

Ray's life was a testament to service and dedication. After receiving a technical certificate in paramedic, he devoted his career to the community of Sebastian County, where he worked tirelessly as a paramedic. His commitment to helping others extended beyond his professional life, as he also served as a volunteer firefighter in multiple cities throughout the area. Ray's selflessness and bravery were further exemplified in his six years of service with the U.S. Army, where he proudly served his country.

A man of many talents and interests, Ray found joy and solace in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman, often spending quiet mornings by the water, and a skilled woodworker, creating beautiful pieces that reflected his meticulous nature and creative spirit.

Ray is survived by his two beloved children, Stefanie Steele, Andrew Steele and wife, Mikaela, who were the pride and joy of his life. He also leaves behind his brother and sister, Stephan Steele and wife, Cathy and Edith Finn. Mother of the children and former wife, Rebecca Steele and his treasured grandson, Jaxson Steele, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness, integrity, and love.

The family will gather to celebrate Ray's life 10 a.m., Friday, August 28 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 27 from 5 – 7 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home. Friends, family, and all who were touched by Ray's warmth and generosity are invited to join in honoring a life well-lived.

Those who knew Ray knew he was never concerned with formalities. He appreciated people for who they were and would want everyone to join us dressed comfortably and casually. Please come as you are as we celebrate the life of a man who treasured simplicity above all else.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Arkansas EMS Foundation, in remembrance of Ray's enduring spirit of giving and caring for others.

Raymond will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he loved and served. His legacy of compassion and courage will continue to inspire and guide us all.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Steele, Stephan Steele, Zac Willhite, Roy Holtz, Aaron Holtz and Chris Blume. Honorary pallbearers will be Jaxson Steele and Sebastian County EMS.
