Shirley Ann Messick

Shirley Ann Messick, born October 30, 1936, in Seminole, Oklahoma, passed away surrounded by love and family on Saturday, June 13, 2026. She was the daughter of Oscar and Minnie Lockhart and grew up in a home with five sisters and five brothers.

On July 19, 1959, Shirley married Ronald Walter Messick. Together they built their home in Hartford in 1964, where they lived until 2023, when they moved to Broken Arrow to be closer to their niece.

Shirley was a devoted member of Jones Memorial Methodist Church in Hartford, where she faithfully served as Treasurer for many years. Her steady presence, generosity, and commitment to her church family were hallmarks of her life.

Shirley worked alongside her sister in Hartford while also working with her husband at Ronnie’s Recreation Center, contributing her time and dedication to both family businesses.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ronald and several brothers and sisters. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and quiet strength that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17 at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood with a graveside committal service to begin at 12 p.m. at Hartford Memorial Park in Hartford.
