On July 3, 2024, Stan Goddard lost his battle with cancer surrounded by loved ones in his home. He was 72 years old. He was born on July 14, 1951 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He graduated from Southside High School in 1969 and joined the Air National Guard in 1971. He worked for the 188th fighter wing in base supply, where he retired as Master Sergeant in 2016. He was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan and loved everything about rodeos. Watching the hogs play, attending rodeos, and spending time with his grandkids gave him great joy.
Stan is survived by his father, James Goddard of Fort Smith; his children, Melissa Morgan and husband, Daniel of Fort Smith, Matt Goddard of Fort Smith, Jack McTyre and wife, Sarah of Fort Smith and Pepper McTyre of Bentonville and his five grandchildren, Christian and Braxton Huynh and Emma, Olivia and Benjamin McTyre. He was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Goddard, his sons, Mark Goddard and Josh McTyre, his sister, Terri Langham and his mother, Betty Goddard.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, July 8 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial with military honors at the Fort Smith National Cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Goddard, Daniel Morgan, Braxton Huynh, Christian Huynh, Rob Yother and John Ferguson.
