William George Cooksey, 82, of Greenwood, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026 in Greenwood. He was born September 6, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri to George and Roxie (Cape) Cooksey. He worked for the Fort Smith Police Department and was a scuba diving instructor in Fort Smith. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Pattie Cooksey; one son, William G. Cooksey Jr.; one daughter, Angela Kroth; four grandchildren, Trey Cooksey, Kaytlyn Cooksey, Shalyn Kroth, and Alyssa Kroth.
Graveside service with military honors will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 8 at Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
