Anna Mae Steenson passed away on March 12, 2026, at the age of 82, in Portland, Oregon. She was born in Prineville, Oregon, on November 24, 1943, to Robert and Nora Storey. Anna grew up in Prineville and graduated from high school there in 1962.
On April 4, 1964, she married the love of her life, Larry Gene Steenson. Their 61 years of marriage were filled with devotion, partnership, and deep affection. Together they raised two daughters, Gina and Kelli, to whom Anna was a constant source of unconditional love. She leaves them a legacy of strength, wisdom, and a warmth that will never fade from their hearts.
Anna dedicated many years to being a homemaker and stay at home mother, creating a home full of comfort and care. Later in life, she worked at a small neighborhood daycare center, where she became known for the love, warmth, and sense of security she offered to the children in her care.
Anna had many hobbies that reflected her generous and joyful spirit. She loved baking and cooking, filling her home with delicious meals and desserts for her family. Music was a constant presence in her life—she often played records while she cleaned and enjoyed concerts with her husband, family, and friends. She cherished time with her friends, whether shopping, sharing coffee, or laughing around a table.
She also enjoyed long drives in the country, road trips, and visiting her treasured family. More than anything, Anna loved being a grandmother. Her grandchildren adored their time with her and their grandpa, and together they shared many adventures. Family was the center of Anna’s world, and she was deeply loved by all of them.
Anna is survived by her husband, Larry, of Portland, Oregon; daughters Gina Steenson and Kelli Jones of Happy Valley, Oregon; son in law Darren Jones; siblings Donna Telfer of Cottage Grove and Bob Storey and Ron Storey of Prineville; and grandchildren Dane Jones, Alissa Jones and Hannah Jones.
