

Altruistic, artistic, and courageous are just a few words used to describe Axel Anderson. Axel was born on February 15, 1915, to Andrew and Theo (Cleveland) Anderson in Sandstone, Minnesota. He attended Lake Park School in Ranier, Minnesota. Axel served in the Army from 1942-1946, and he was traveled around Europe. Axel was a Tech Sargent, and he received three award medals for his service during this time. Axel was a talented artist; he enjoyed woodwork and crocheting. Axel made hats, dolls, wagons and windmills, as well as many other cherished items that became gifts to his family and friends. Axel was a generous and caring man; a Christmas tradition he held was baking pies for the homeless, and he was always quick to help a person in need. Axel was preceded in death by his parents; Andrew and Theo Anderson; and his wife, Gloria (Von Moss) Anderson. Axel is survived by his siblings; Nils Anderson and Liz Johnson; his children, Judy Fink, Mark Anderson and Joyce Iglesias; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their children. He will be missed.
