Corbett resident Bertha Christina MacKay passed away on September 11, 2010. She was 98. A funeral service will be at 1 PM on Friday, September 17 at Corbett Community Church (34309 NE Mershon Road). Burial will be at Douglass Cemetery in Troutdale.
Bertha was born November 12, 1911 in Corbett, OR to Nels Nelson and Ellen Lofstead. She graduated from Corbett High School. She married Roy MacKay. Bertha was a long time member of the Grange Columbia 267 in Corbett. She worked at a nursery for many years helping customers with landscaping plans and selecting plants. She loved gardening and had a huge, beautiful garden every year. She loved animals, especially her dogs.
Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, son Charles and daughters Margaret and Iona MacKay. She is survived by her son, Douglas MacKay of Placerville, CA; daughters, Flora MacKay of Corbett, OR; Barbara Sumpter of Portland, OR; Clara MacKay of Portland, OR; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
