Bettie Jo Schwartz

Bettie Jo Schwartz, 76 of Fairview OR, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014. She was born on February 13, 1938 in Myrtle Point, Oregon to Joseph and Beulah (Slyter) Tipton and grew up with five brothers and five sisters. She married Gary Wendle Schwartz on May 18, 1974 in Vancouver, Washington and he preceded her in death on June 21, 2004. Bettie was a member of the Gresham Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed fishing at Kah-Nee-Tah, reading and flowers.

Bettie is survived by her sons Bill Rathburn of Portland OR, Dave Rathburn (Cyndi) of Portland OR and Tim Rathburn of Fairview OR; brothers Joe Tipton of Vernonia OR, Stanley Tipton of Portland OR, Leslie Tipton of John Day OR and Keith Tipton (Pam) of Aloha OR; sisters Mary Schooling of Aloha OR, Linda Dow of Portland OR, Sharon Tipton of Portland OR, Dorothy Brandow (Lee) of Woodburn OR and Susie Munson of Cornelius OR; sister-in-law Lenore Tipton of Aloha OR; grandchildren Ryan Dunn, Patrick Dunn, Amy Shivvers and Shane Rathburn and great grandchildren Aidan Shivvers, Ryleigh Dunn and Lillian Dunn. She was also preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Tipton.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham, Oregon with a reception to follow in the hospitality room. Private interment at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
