Betty June Kuffler died on March 22, 2012 in Gresham after a lengthy illness. She was born in Joes, CO to Ted and Sadie Black on July 13, 1922. She was raised in Joes, and later moved with her husband to Oregon to work in the shipyards.
Betty married Orville Kuffler in Nebraska in 1939 when she was just 17. Together they had 2 children and 66 wonderful years of marriage until Orville’s passing in 2006. She was known for her sweet tooth, which served her well during her years working at Nabisco. She helped raise three generations of family members and made sure to spoil the grandkids and great-grandkids, much to their delight.
Betty enjoyed time together with her family, especially time spent at her home when she lived in Pine Hollow in central Oregon. She also enjoyed oil painting, crafts, playing pinochle with friends, reading, and doing puzzles. She was kind and caring, and laughed often when her family played jokes on one another. Having trusted Christ as her savior, she was a regular attender at church in Portland, Wamic, and Wood Village.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, and son, Jerry Kuffler. She is missed by her daughter, Diana Wallan (Bolivia); six grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Skyline Memorial Gardens on Wednesday March 28, 2012 at 11am; memorial service to follow at 2:00pm at Wood Village Baptist Church.
Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
