

Ebberts, Blaine Daniel “Danny” 62 (6/25/1954-3/15/2017) Blaine a retired, published, marine biologist, a brother, uncle and great uncle, lost his battle with cancer surrounded by family and friends. Blaine was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Virginia Ebberts. He is survived by his Brothers Mark Ebberts and Lance Ebberts. He was an uncle to four and great uncle to three (he emphasized the “GREAT”).
Blaine was born on June 25, 1954 in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Madison high school in 1972. Shortly after he joined the Army and served from 1973-1976. After his service he joined Greenpeace working to save whales. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology (majoring in marine Biology) from Oregon State University in 1986. Blaine was a Biologist at the National Marine Mammal Laboratory in Seattle from 1986—1989. He was a Fisheries research biologist at the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration National Marine Fisheries Service in Juneau, Alaska from 1989—1991. He joined the United States Army Corps of Engineers in 1992 and remained until he retired in June of 2016. Blaine was a life-long 49er fan, a wine collector, golfer, neighborhood organizer and devoted his life to Marine biology. He will be remembered for his sharp mind, quick wit and his love of dogs; he will be missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held on April 2nd at 3:00 at Colwood Golf Center: 7313 NE Columbia BLVD, Portland.
