Candy was born to Victor and Mona (Reeder) Schlechter July 18, 1959 in Portland, Oregon. Candy graduated from Gresham High School in 1977. For the next couple years she worked at Rockwood Fred Meyer as a customer service specialist before attending dental school in Portland, Oregon to become dental assistant. She met her first husband Craig Plummer while working together at Rockwood Fred Meyer and got married March 21, 1980. They had one child together, Brittiany (Plummer) Ragasa. After working as a dental assistant, Candy went to work for Litho Development and Research as a purchasing agent where she worked for next 10 years. While working at LDR she met her second husband Ron Dey. The two were wed on September 14, 1990 were they spent the rest of their life together. Ron and Candy had two children together Lauren and Jessica Dey. After the birth Lauren, Candy retired from working and become a full time mother. This was the position that she enjoyed the most. Candy was very active in her children’s life from room mom in her children’s school, Girl Scout cookie mom, dance team mom, to being a constant chauffeur to her children’s sporting events. However, her favorite thing to do was to make sure everyone was fed. Candy loved to cook and everyone who knew her would be in agreement that she was darn good at it. Anyone that knew Candy knew how much she loved her dachshunds. She also enjoyed camping, crabbing, crafting, quilting, gardening, and finding hearts in nature. Candy was a very giving person and had a wondering group of supporting friends. Candy was preceded in death by her grandfather, Lee; her grandmother, Carmella and her youngest daughter Jessica. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Ron Dey; her daughters, Brittiany Ragasa and Lauren Dey; her mom, Mona Schlechter; her father, Victor Reeder; her step-father, Monte Schlechter; her brother, Robert Reeder and stepsister, Cynthia Roles. Candy also has a sister-in-law; son-in-law; nieces; nephews; and extended family who she loved dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Make-A-Wish of Oregon or to the Children’s Cancer Association in Jessica Dey’s name. She will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery.

I am so sorry for your loss. We've not met, but I was touched as I read the "story" of Candy. She sounds like someone I would have liked to have met. I am sure she will deeply and profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her. I hope your memories can offer you a measure of comfort at this most difficult time.
