She lived in Enterprise, Medford and Portland her growing up years and into adult life. Carolla married Edwin Fritzler (Eddie) in 1946. In 1955, they moved to a farm on Tualatin-Sherwood Road in Tualatin. They fixed up the old farmhouse and made it into a wonderful home. There, they raised four children. Carolla always had a big garden and canned and froze her berries and vegetables. She was a homemaker extraordinaire-- cooking, knitting, sewing, quilting, upholstering and tackling any project that was needed.
The family's relationship with God and His church was utmost in their world and remains the center. In her younger years, she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Carolla was the treasurer of the Missionary Society for years. She quilted with the ladies and helped with dinners. Later, after Eddie died suddenly in 1980 at the age of 57, she worked in the church office with bookkeeping duties. She continued to be a big part of Holladay Park Church of God until she could no longer drive from Tualatin. She worshipped with her children at their churches and most recently attended Lynchwood Church of God.
Carolla moved to Prosperity Park Road in 1989 on adjoining property to LaVisa and Steve's home. She was able to stay in her home with help until two months before her death. She was involved in her children's lives- still remembering their birthdays and Christmas with gifts and greetings.
Carolla's 100th birthday was celebrated with a big party in her honor. It was attended by many family members and friends.
All of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild "rise up and call her blessed." We are thankful to have had her in our lives and to have had the privilege of gleaning from her curiosity, wisdom spiritual insight and faithfulness. She was tremendously supportive of her family and generous in giving to missions and the church.
Carolla is survived by her four children and their spouses: Sally Kuykendall (John) Gresham, OR; LaVisa Arnold (Steve) Tualatin, OR; Ed Fritzler (Nancy) Wilsonville, OR; Candy Bratcher (Mike) Kenmore, WA; 13 grandchildren, 34 (almost 35) great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
