Corey Steven Atkinson, age 52, passed away on December 31, 2021, at his home in Boring,
Oregon.
Corey was born July 24, 1969, in Portland, Oregon to Steve and Dorothy Atkinson. He was
raised in a loving home following on the coattails of his older siblings Rolin and Becky. Growing
up he enjoyed snow skiing, boating, and water skiing. He attended K-12 school in the David
Douglas School District and graduated high school in 1987.
Shortly after high school, Corey started dating his wife, Christine. Though they weren’t friends
in high school, Christine always commented on how she would admire Corey from afar in the
halls at school, so was elated when they went on their first date. It was on this date, Corey told
her he loved her, and after dating four years married in 1993. Their bundles of joy, daughter
Kendall, was born in 1997, and son Bailey in 2001. They were married for 28 years.
Corey was a skilled journeyman electrician, in both residential & commercial, for the past 24
years with IBEW Local 48. He was a great mentor to others in the trade, and most recently was
a foreman at Dynalectric and took great pride in his team.
Corey was a loving husband and father, and cared deeply for his family. He was hard working,
and always busy working on projects around the house, keeping up with the yard work, or
tinkering in his barn. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, playing pool, BBQ’ing, and
spending time with friends. He was always quick to lend a helping hand and was fondly known
as “Mr. Fix It”.
Corey was a genuine friend to many with his kindness, and always had you laughing with his
wittiness and great sense of humor. It’s a true testament to the man he was with hearing the
comments of: “Such a great guy”, “One of the Really Good One’s” a “Truly good human”. He
will be greatly missed by many.
Corey is survived by his wife Christine Atkinson, children Kendall Atkinson and Bailey Atkinson
of Boring, OR. His parents Steve and Dot Atkinson, brother Rolin Atkinson (wife Libby), sister
Becky Steinke (husband Buck), and his nephews Levi Steinke (wife Jayden), Brogen Atkinson,
and Caleb Steinke. He was preceded in death by his nephew Colby Atkinson.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 26th, 2022 at 1 pm at Lakeside Gardens
