Curt was a Banks High School graduate. He served his country in the United States Army. One of his proudest moments while in the Army in Alaska, Curt participated in USARAL Exercise Moose Horn during January/February 1956, where he survived -60 degree temperatures during training exercises. For this he received a certificate stating the accomplishment.
Curt married Karen Hartke on November 15, 1958 in Portland, Oregon. They were married for 62 years.
Curt had a passion for landscaping. He was a professional landscaper since 1972 and was awarded the landscape design winner at the Street of Dreams for ten years.
He loved going to auctions, traveling and going on cruises. He loved sports, especially FOOTBALL. He loved animals, all types of animals. He had cows, donkeys, puppies.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Randy and Jay.
Curt is survived by his loving wife Karen, son Scott and his wife Renee, son Jeff and his wife Lisa, his daughter-in-law Berta, and his nine grandchildren, Stacey, Shannon, Trent, Brodie, Melissa, Andrea, Alan, Brianna and Gabrielle, plus his five great-grandchildren, and his dog “Peanut”.
In lieu of flowers, Curt’s Family wish for donations to be made to Salvation Army, Tri-City Baptist Temple or Children’s Hospital in his name.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home located at 520 W. Powell Blvd. in Gresham, Oregon.
A graveside service with military honors will be on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
