

Delane was born on October 6, 1937, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Melvin and Wilma Wilson. He was raised in Portland, Oregon, studying mechanics at Benson High and graduating Cleveland high school. He furthered his education at Portland Community College. Delane proudly served his country in the Army Reserves for two years.
On February 8, 1959, he married the love of his life, Alice O'Brien, in Portland, Oregon. They first met while cruising Broadway on a double date. Delane's mother, who worked at a local police station, helped him find Alice's number from a license plate lookup.
Delane dedicated over 40 years of his life to his career as a diesel mechanic at Continental Baking Company. His passion for working on old cars, particularly his cherished 1967 Ford F250, endured throughout his life. He was know for his handyman skills, generosity, comforting words , pancakes and spaghetti. His warm conversations often included “that hits the spot” or “that’s something to think about” and “heartburn special”.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Wilson, daughter, Charisse Wilson, and son, Daniel Wilson, Delane is survived by his sister Sharon MacPherson, daughter Roxanne Garner, son-in-law John Garner, nephew Shell MacPherson, grandchildren Jason Delane Garner, Luke Garner, Janelle Garner, great-grand children, Aubrey Garner, and Brooks Wilson Garner, as well as his beloved dog, Joye.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
A Memorial Service for Delane will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mt Scott Blvd., Portland, OR 97086.
