At 17 Dewey joined the Air Force and made it a career. While stationed at the Portland AFB he met and married Nila, his wife of 57 years. He retired from the USAF as a Senior Master Sargent in 1975. Dewey then began his second career as a mechanic for Halton Tractor in Portland, OR and retired permanently in 1998 after 23 years. Dewey was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He loved to fish, hunt, and socialize.
Dewey is survived by his wife, Nila, his three children, Ardette, Arlen (Mary), Aaron (Leslie), 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, Oregon 97086, on Thursday, September 5th at 1:30 p.m.
