Donald A Gray

Donald Auburn Gray, 72, passed away on March 3, 2013 at his home in Happy Valley. Donald was born in Dayton, Ohio to parents Clark and Grace Gray. After high school, Donald left Ohio to see something new, and joined his brother in California. There he worked for Shell Oil Company doing seismic exploration off the Pacific Coast. After seeing Astoria, Donald fell in love with Oregon and soon moved here.

In December of 1975, Donald met the love of his life, Sharon. They had fun from the moment they met, and in March of 1976, they married. Together they raised their daughter, Heather, and spent the last 37 years in love. Donald enjoyed books and music- all kinds, and was always eager to learn new things. He was highly intelligent, articulate, and strong willed. Donald was active in mind and body as well, enjoying backpacking, travel, riding bicycles, and competing in marathons. Donald was a caring and appreciative individual, always making sure his family knew he was thinking about them .

Donald is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Heather Brown, ; grandson Daniel Combs; granddaughter Ashley Combs; twin brother Ronald Gray, and several nieces and nephews, and his loving dogs. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
