Donald Fred Rowe

Don was born on November 11, 1942 in Three Lakes, Wisconsin and was the son of Rex and Hazel (Federer) Rowe. He graduated from Three Lakes High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force on November 27, 1961. He served as a Medical Specialist and was relocated to Portland, Oregon in 1964. He received an honorable discharge in 1965 and enlisted in the Oregon Army National Guard where he served with 2-218th Field Artillery, C-Battery. He retired in 1988 at the rank of Staff Sergeant.

On January 1, 1978 Don married Noreen Burgess in Vancouver, Washington. They resided in East County for many years where Don was a member of the Moose Lodge. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #0121.

Don was true outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and hanging out with his Guard Buddies. He was generous and loyal and a genuinely nice man. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Don is survived by his wife, Noreen of Portland, step-daughter, Nancy Barbera of Payson, Arizona, brother, Robert Rowe of Three Lakes, Wisconsin and sisters Elizabeth Thompson of Appleton, Wisconsin and Darlyen Hess of Frankfort, Illinois. His brother, Dale and sister, Cheryle both preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 12:00 pm at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. A reception will follow at the Moose Lodge in Portland. Contributions may be made in memory of Don to the Oregon Disabled Veteran’s Home. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
