Donna Faye of Gresham, Oregon passed away April 12, 2012. She was born November 3, 1933 in Tacoma, WA to parents Lowell and Fay Hammond. Donna lived in Washington for most of her young life, graduating from high school there. As an adult, she moved to Oregon for work and family.
Donna worked as a tool grinder machinist at Boeing, and as a power machine operator at several local factories. She spent most of her life, however, as a homemaker and volunteer. Donna was passionate about several charities, making scarves for Snow Cap, and giving her time and support to PETA, Disabled American Veterans, American Lung Association, and the Hepatitis C Foundation. She was also a skilled musician, playing the baby grand piano, and enjoyed jazz music and festivals. Donna was adept at crafts. She often designed and sewed her clothes, and enjoyed decorating her house. She was also very sentimental, and filled her home with things that had a story or special meaning to her. Donna was a very supportive person, and did her best to be involved in all the family events, and was there for reassurance or advice. She was a very truthful and experienced woman with a tough exterior and a kind heart, with a very strong faith in the lord. She also had a full social life, with a witty, strong sense of humor and liked to “shuck and jive” and tease the people around her.
Donna is survived by her children Margie Lowry of Colton, OR, Jodie Baker of Tukwila, WA, Mick Schy of Corvallis, OR, Robin Ford of Tigard, OR, Kelly Cox of Corvallis, OR, Mike Millspaugh of Medford, OR, Patrick Millspaugh of Ronard Park, CA, Shawn McCamman of Sandy, OR; 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many wonderful friends who will miss her.
Celebration of Donna's Life open house will be on Saturday, May 5, 2012 starting at 1:00 p.m. at 24192 S. Elwood Rd. in Colton, Oregon.
