Dorothy Jean Ison

Dorothy was born on October 20, 1931 in Portland, Oregon and was the daughter of Harry and Esther (Friedenthal) Tucker. She graduated from Girl’s Poly Tech and on January 28, 1951, she married Orlo “Bob” Ison at the Laurelwood Methodist Church in Portland, Oregon. They moved to East County in 1959.

Dorothy worked as a secretary for Standard Insurance for 44 years retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Elk’s Lodge and the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Portland, Oregon.

She enjoyed bowling, roller-skating and frogs. She also enjoyed traveling.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Robert Ison of Portland along with 2 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 11:00 am at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made in memory of Dorothy to the Disabled American Veterans. Bateman Carroll is handling the arrangements.
