

Dorothy Emma Strand, 94 of Portland OR, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2012. She was born on January 3, 1918 in Dodge, North Dakota to John and Mary (Stuber) Stern, where she grew up and attended high school. She married Allan Monroe Strand on December 13, 1938 in Dodge, North Dakota and they moved to Portland, Oregon in 1944. Dorothy worked for many years as a professional cake decorator and also taught in adult education for 10 years with Portland Public Schools. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Gresham and was active with Snocap and Zarephath Ministries. She was known by many for her expert candy making.
She was preceded in death by her husband Allan on September 17, 2007. She is survived by her sons Lowell Strand, Timothy Strand (Betty) and Rodney Strand (Patti) all of Portland OR; daughters Janice Androsoff of Rossland BC and Marilyn Strand (Wayne Renaud) of Dorrington CA; sister Norma Pierce of Moro Bay CA; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, January 6, 2012 at Lincoln Memorial Park, 11801 SE Mt. Scott Blvd in Portland, Oregon. Contributions may be made to Zarephath Ministries in care of Trinity Lutheran Church, 507 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham OR 97030. Arrangements entrusted to Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon.
