Edna A Schmidt

Edna Anna Schmidt was born September 18, 1917 in Ogallala, Nebraska the daughter of Theodore and Amalia (Leybold) Elmshaeuser. She was baptized into God’s family on November 11, 1917. She made confession of her faith in the rite of confirmation at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ogallala, Nebraska on May 24, 1931. Edna graduated from East Denver High School in 1935 and attended business college in Grand Island, Nebraska. She worked in the Denver Public Schools, Great Western Sugar Company and Hewlitt Packard where she retired in 1983. She moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1959, to Portland, Oregon in 1986 and to Fairview, Oregon to live with her son in 2008. On July 20, 1954 she was married to Jake Schmidt at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakewood, Colorado. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1959.

She is survived by her son, Paul Schmidt of Fairview, Oregon; daughter, Ruth Shay of Troudale; three grandchildren, Nicole, Nathan and Rachel. She is also survived by sisters, Regina Elmshaeuser, Emma Stanek and Ruth Wetzel. She is preceded in death by sister, Elnora Raibourn and brothers, Emil, Leonard, Aaron and Ted Elmshaeuser.

Edna died May 29, 2011 in Portland, Oregon. No service will be held in Oregon. A Graveside Service will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 2:00 pm.
