Ella May Turnage, 83, of Portland, passed away on January 20, 2016. She was born in LaMoure, North Dakota to Freeman and Clara Finch and was raised with one brother, Freeman Jr. Ella moved to Oregon with her brother. She worked in the restaurant industry as a waitress and cook. In the late 1970s she met Richard Turnage, while traveling to and from work on public transportation. They got married on July 18, 1979 and together they shared the love of fishing, bowling and spending time with family. Giving, independent and feisty are just a few of the many words used to describe Ella. She also enjoyed reading books by Danielle Steel, gardening and baking. Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Richard. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Radford (Gary); brother, Freeman Finch Jr. (Eleanor); grandchildren, Gregory Radford (Laura), Jennifer Emmarson (Steve); great grandchildren, Ryan, Zack, Riley, Hudson, Leah, and Teague. Ella will be laid to rest with her husband in Willamette National Cemetery. The family will be holding a private gathering at a later date.
