

Federico Menor Austria died on June 9, 2010 in Gresham. He was born on June 12, 1927 in San Carlos City, Pangasinan in the Philippines to Aquilino and Filonina (Menor) Austria. Federico earned his degree in law from Santo Thomas University. He was a practicing attorney for 10 years and also taught at Palaris Junior College. He married Remedious in 1958 in San Carlos. In 1963 they moved to the United State living in Gresham. Federico worked for 27 years at the Oregonian Newspaper finishing as a printer. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Gresham and volunteered for the City of Gresham.
Frederico was President of the Filipino American Association and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was awarded “most Honored Elder” by the Asian Reporter.
Interests included taking care of his yard, playing basketball while at the Univ. of Santo Thomas, singing, crossword puzzles and most of all spending time with his family.
Federico is survived by his wife Remedios, son Jose, two brothers, Camillo M. and Jose M. Austria, two sisters, Leonila M. and Aurora M. Austria and two grandchildren, Sean A. and Joye Nicole Christina Austria.
Rosary will be on Friday, June 18th at 7 pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd. in Gresham. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, June 19th at 12 pm at St. Henry Catholic Church, 346 NW 1st St. in Gresham immediately followed by a concluding graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham. After the graveside service there will be a reception at St. Henry Church. Viewing will be Wednesday thru Friday from 10 am until 5 pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home.
