Glen Richard Tilden, age 67, was born in Portland, Oregon on August 9, 1956 and left us unexpectedly on March 29, 2024. He was the son of Richard (Dick) Tilden and Elma (Jarvie) Tilden, and older brother of Stacy Tilden-Browning.
He attended Mill Park Elementary, Floyd Light Middle School, and graduated from David Douglas High School, class of 1974. He was a member of the DDHS ski team. After high school, he graduated from Phagen’s School of Hair Design and worked at Meier & Frank and Frederick & Nelson salons. In 1988, he completed the Travel Industry Program at the International Air Academy, Vancouver, WA and worked at the Portland, San Francisco, and Seattle International Airports. In 1994 he completed the Licensed Practical Nursing Program at Renton Technical College and was dually certified in WA and OR. He worked at long-term care facilities, medical centers, the Portland VA, and the Hampton Alzheimer’s Community. He greatly enjoyed his time providing care for geriatric and Alzheimer’s patients.
Later, his own health challenges impacted his life. He lived with his mother for the last 10-15 years, helping other family members provide her comfort, companionship, and care. He played a significant role in her hospice care.
During his life, he enjoyed water and snow skiing, swimming, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. His family was important to him and he kept abreast of all their activities when he could not participate himself.
His family would like to thank all the friends and health care workers who listened, supported, and guided him through the years. Thanks also to the members of his diabetes group for their weekly support.
Glen will be greatly missed. He had a big heart and cared deeply about others. He was looking forward to the next chapter in his life. He is survived by his sister, Stacy Tilden-Browning; brother-in-law, Larry Browning; nephew, Jake Tilden-Browning (Ashly); niece, Aleena Tilden-Browning; great nephews, Zane, Kase, and Luke; and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his father and mother, and his Corgi/best friend, Calvin. He was laid to rest at Lincoln Memorial Park.
