Glenda was born in St. John, Kansas to Kenneth and Vera Curtis. She moved to Sheridan, Oregon and then to Gresham.
Glenda graduated from Gresham High School. For a time, she worked for the Oregonian.
She married Roy C. Kimmel in 1953. Roy preceded her in death in 2006 as well as her son Douglas in 1960.
She is survived by her younger brother, Gary Curtis (Sandra) of King City, OR; son David R. Kimmel (Sally) of Beaverton, OR; daughters Susan J. Beairsto (Jack) of Grants Pass, OR; Debra J. Lexow (Chris) of Silver Cliff, WI; and Melinda J. Stephens (James) of Auburn, WA. Glenda has 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Glenda was a Homemaker while raising her children. In 1972, Glenda, Roy and family moved to Stevenson, WA, Skamania County in the Columbia Gorge. However she was never separated from her many friends and family in the Portland
Glenda was always fascinated with numbers and was elected to the office of Skamania County Assessor for 2 terms from 1987 – 1994.
Glenda enjoyed family camping trips for many years. She also enjoyed trips with Roy to see her children and their families in Wisconsin, Southern Oregon and Washington. She was an avid Mariner’s fan and enjoyed going to games when she could. She and Roy also enjoyed going to Reno along with Spirit Mountain and Chinook Winds in Oregon.
Glenda and Roy enjoyed the Oregon Coast very much and went there as often as possible. She also made time for special “Girl Trips” to the beach with her High School friends of 67 years Phyllis Fetters (Von) and Rose Siren (Hart), both from the Gresham area.
Most of all, Glenda loved and cherished her family, which provided her with such pride, joy and love, which she took such strength in every day. She will always be missed but will never be forgotten by her loving family & friends.
