Helen Bertha Schmitz Schultz

Helen graduated from Minot High School in North Dakota. In 1956 she moved to the East Portland/Gresham, Oregon area. Helen enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, reading and traveling.

Helen was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Gresham since 1975 where she was a member of the Altar Circle and a church greeter. Helen also was a Lutheran Braille Worker at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Gresham.

Helen married Helmar E. Schultz on October 28, 1945 in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minot, North Dakota. Helmar died in 2000.

Helen is survived by her son, Loren and his wife Kathy Schultz, Harleysville, PA., daughter, Colleen and her husband Gary Brinkert, Oregon City, OR., two brothers, Arthur Schmitz, of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Vernon Schmitz, of Gresham, OR., four grandchildren, Karl, Eric, Gretchen, and Lindsay, and one great-grandson, Kyle.

Donations may be given to Ascension Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour Ministries.

A memorial service to celebrate Helen’s Life will be on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church located at 1440 SE 182nd Ave. in Gresham, Oregon.

Viewing will be on Wednesday and Thursday, March 6th and 7th from 11:00 a.m. until 5 pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home located at 520 W. Powell Blvd. in Gresham, Oregon.
