Born February 8, 1926, in Toppenish, Washington, he was the youngest of seven, born to Lewis Grover and Lillie Mae Jordan. He became hard-of-hearing due to a series of illnesses when he was a toddler. He attended public school until his parents transferred him to The Oregon School for the Deaf for high school, where he met his future wife. He graduated in 1944. His wife, Jeanne, of nearly 66 years, preceded him in death on May 22, 2016. He is survived by his two daughters, Pauline Brooks and husband William, of Hillsboro, Oregon and Lillie Mae Jordan of Newberg, Oregon; three sons, Irving Ray Jordan, Jr. and wife Anita of Prineville, Oregon, Louis Jordan and partner Deb Miller of Syracuse, Indiana and William Jordan and wife Ann of Putnam, Connecticut; an older sister and brother, Golda Rawlings of Estacada, Oregon and J Jordan of Prineville, Oregon; as well as 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W Powell Boulevard, Gresham, Oregon 97030. A long-time family friend, Pastor Alfred Griffith, will be officiating.
