

James Alexander Doig, 90 of Portland, passed away December 30, 2014. He was born in Oakland, California May 15, 1924 to James and Mary (Macpherson) Doig. Jim spent most of his childhood in Oregon. He attended Benson High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Oregon State University. He served in the US Navy during WWII and Korea. Jim married Jessie Lettow in 1948 and together they raised two children William and Kathleen. Jim worked for PGE in the Gresham community for 38 years; and he spent thousands of hours volunteering at the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp. Reliable, thoughtful, and giving were just a few words used to describe Jim. He found joy in traveling, gardening and playing cards. Jim was predeceased by his wife Jessie and son, William. He is survived by his fiancee, Reis; daughter, Kathy; grandson, Christopher (Susie); granddaughter, Sara and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in May at the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp fund in memory of Jim.
