Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Friend
James (Jim) was born in Bellingham, WA to Robert Eugene Marshall and Delores Jean Annette. He grew up primarily in Deming, WA in the Mt. Baker foothills.
He was a “country boy” by nature (even though he hated Country Music). He grew up exploring the forest trails and logging roads of Mt Baker with his Yamaha trail bike. He was quiet, kind and non-judgmental and rarely spoke a swear word. He accepted everyone as they came. He was an artist, wood carver, model maker (especially airplanes) and outdoor pond designer.
His career as a Carpenter and Machinist was a fortunate outcome of his education from Bellingham Technical Institute in the 1960s. He worked in oil refineries, ship and train parts industries and steel industries. Mostly large parts for those industries. He was a lifelong learner and finished an Asso. Degree from Mt Hood Community College in the 1990s.
In the Seattle area, he met and then married Tracy Lee Clark on May 12, 1979, and was Forever Sealed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints’ Seattle Temple on January 30, 1981. He was a man that became a Husband and Father with his first "I Do" as Tracy’s children, Paul and Kari, were folded into his welcome and loving arms.
He showed his children the wonders of Nature, making toys out of driftwood and whistles out of vine maple branches. He showed captured moles and ‘possums to show the kids what they look like, then set them free. He hunted for fossils and was a rockhound with his grandmother. He loved going to the beach. Before he married, he traveled home to Deming, WA from Seattle, WA almost every weekend to be with his family and traveled on many trips to Canada and other places in the Northwest with them.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy. 4 Children and partners: Paul Marshall/Dee Cochran; Kari Marshall Jenkins/Brian McNair; Sean Marshall/Lory Griggs Roosna; Darci Marshall Coleman/Andrew Coleman. 9 grandchildren: Megan, Kevin, Andrew, Mason, Cassidy, Tyler, Auren, Taylor, Corrina and their partners and 3 great grandchildren. Brother-in-Law: Brian Clark. His sister Vicki Harden Roos and brother John Marshall and spouses. Many nieces and nephews. His parents and sister Melanie has preceded him in joining the Lord.
