Joann Louise Estes

Joann Louise Estes, 90 of Vancouver WA, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. She was born on February 3, 1933, in Centerburg, Ohio to Lester and Inez Moreland along with her twin sister Janice Irene Moreland. She married Harry Leon Estes on October 24, 1952, in Seguin, Texas. They then moved to Portland, Oregon where Joann lived until 2020. Joann was a girl scout leader for many years, member of the Audubon Society and remained active in her Bunco Group. Joann was a prolific artist, an avid baker and seamstress. She continued to paint well into her 90th year.

Joann was preceded in death by her husband Harry Estes in 1986 and her twin-sister Janice Dickson in 2014. Joann is survived by her daughters Peggy Wahlke (Bill) of Green Valley AZ, Janet Estes (Mark Sponsel) of Rohnert Park CA and Barbara Waugh (Blake) of Vancouver WA; grandchildren John Wahlke and Heather Oleksak and great grandson Nolan Oleksak.

A Celebration of Joann’s Life will be held on February 3rd, 2024, at the Radisson Hotel Portland Airport, 6233 NE 78th Court Portland, OR.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Audubon Society or The American Parkinson Disease Association in honor of Joann.
