

John Keller passed away on November 9, 2022. He was born on October 4, 1934 in Fargo, North Dakota to George and Mary Keller. He moved to Portland at the age of five. John attended Gregory Heights Grade School, Grant High School and then went on to graduate from the University of Oregon. He played three years of professional baseball with the Eugene Emeralds before retiring to start a family. After a short stint with Permanente Cement, John went into the sporting goods business where he spent 15 years before getting his teaching license. He then went on to teach and coach multiple sports at both Grant and Centennial High School, ending his career as Athletic Director at Centennial. He played senior softball until the age of 84. John was inducted into the Oregon Duck Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. He also spent 10 years singing karaoke at various assisted living facilities and, most importantly, with his grandchildren. Singing was his passion.
John is survived by his sons Steven, David and Douglas, his daughter Shauna, his grandchildren Jason, Jordan, Makayla, Lindsey and Sydney and his great-grandchildren Jaxon, Penelope, Jayden and Avery. He deeply loved his wife of 66 years, Patricia, who passed away on March 2, 2022, and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham on Friday, November 18 at 1 p.m. and a celebration of life directly following the service at the Troutdale House.
