

He was the youngest of five children born to Charlie Lee Mansfield “Capt’n Charlie” and Florence Moore, in Hertford, North Carolina.
After growing up on a family farm and graduating from High School, he joined the Air Force and made it a 21 year career. After retiring from The Air Force, he jumped into another career, starting as a veterans counselor and later an electricians apprentice at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, OR.
After 19 years there, he retired to a somewhat life of leisure. He had several hobbies: Square dancing, model airplane flying, traveling and writing his genealogical history of the Mansfield family. His favorite quiet time was reading, especially history. Sometimes three books a week.
Johnnie is survived by his wife, Roberta (Bobbie Kidd), his children: Tina, Chuck, and Cheryl, his grandchildren: Mike, Christopher, Brandon, Crystal, Amber,
Natasha and Evan and even more blessings, nine great-grandchildren: Mayzee, Peyton, Kinslee, Avery, Hudson, Ryder, Declan, Kennedy and Arden. He is also survived by Rhonda Roberson, Floyd Hurdle, Tom Hollowell and Martha Ann Lovingood, all of Hertford, North Carolina.
A full military ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Willamette National Cemetery.
