Keaton completed a year of college at George Fox University but found his calling in the military. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in August of 2008 and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California. He was assigned to the 1st LEB (REIN), I MHG (FWD), I MEF (FWD) Military Police where he was a working dog handler. Along with his dog, Denny, he was in the completion stages of his second deployment to the region.
On November 19, 2011, Keaton proposed to his best friend and soul mate, Brittany Dygert. They were planning to be married on July 14, 2012 and were looking forward to starting their lives together as husband and wife.
Keaton had many interests. He loved animals, fitness and surfing but his world revolved around his true love, Brittany. He was gentle, compassionate and a completely amazing young man. He had a fun sense of humor, enjoyed reading and loved to learn. He was also a believer and committed his life to the Lord in the 3rd grade, making his parents very proud. Keaton also had a heart for service and aspired to follow in his father’s footsteps by becoming a firefighter. Keaton was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
Keaton is survived by his parents, Grant and Inger Coffey of Boring and his fiancée, Brittany Dygert of Boring along with many close family members and friends.
A Celebration of Keaton’s life will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Community Church in Boring. A committal service with full military honors will follow at Willamette National Cemetery.
