

LeRoy Allen Lekberg, a resident of Boring, Oregon, died on March 7, 2010 in Gresham. He was 78 years of age.
LeRoy was born on February 9, 1932 in Boring, Oregon and was the son of August and Olive (Backlund) Lekberg. He was raised in Boring and graduated from Sandy Union High School in 1950. After high school he completed his trade training to be machinist. In 1954, he worked as a machinist for Peter's Company. in 1961 he moved on to Wearweld where he fabricated parts for tractor trailers and in 1964 he worked for Akley. Alll were located in the Portland Area. 1969 he purchased his log truck and worked as a truck driver until until 1972. LeRoy spent the rest of his years farming. He asissted during the harvest seasons on various farms throughout the boring area. He also grew his own corn and was know for his generosity when it came to sharing the fruits of his labor.
LeRoy had other hobbies which included working with metal and fabricating replacement parts for cars and virtually anything he could add metal to. He also, in his younger years, had a motorcylce. LeRoy was a simple, humble man. He was loved by his family and a community in which he lived and worked in his entire life. He also loved animals and was owner to many dogs over his 78 years.
LeRoy is survived by his siblings; Irene Caldwell of Tygh Valley, OR, May Smith of Washington and Reynold Lekberg of Arizona along with many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 29, 2010 at 11:00 am at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham. Inurnment will be at Douglass Cemetery in Troutdale. Contributions may be made in memory of LeRoy to the Oregon Humane Society. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
