

Lucy Gannett Van Kirk passed away on April 29th, 2017 in Portland, Oregon. She was born on November 16th, 1921, to Frank and Zola (Hitchcock) Gannett. She attended Washington High School and graduated in 1939.
Lucy met the love of her life, Fred "Bud" Van Kirk, when she was in third grade. Fred went into the service and was sent to war. When he returned, they decided to get married. They wed on August 2nd, 1946 at Mt Tabor Presbyterian Church. They spent many wonderful years together until his passing in 2007.
In 1957, Fred and Lucy bought a farm and garden store in southeast Portland, which they incorporated into Van Kirk's Florist in 1961. They worked there together until they sold the shop and retired in 1981. They enjoyed activities such as camping, spending time with family, and trips to the Oregon Coast and Reno. Lucy also enjoyed shopping with her grandchildren and dining out for lunch. She was described as active and social.
After Fred's passing, Lucy moved to Courtyard Fountains in Gresham. She enjoyed living there, and she made many friends. She enjoyed being involved in the social activities and field trips.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother George and sister Evelyn. She is survived by her children, Carol (Mike) Stout and Sue (Tom) Cieloha; her grandchildren Jennifer (Bill) Emery, Travis (Marisa) Cieloha, Brandon (Megan) Cieloha, and Brittney (Andrew) Kyser; and her great grandchildren, Haley, Jack, Isaac, Grayden, Carter and Riley. She will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday May 4th, 2017 at 2pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham.
