

Margaret "Sue" Dalzell (née Bauder), age 85, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, in Gresham, Oregon.
Born on September 16, 1939, in Rushville, Nebraska, Sue was the daughter of George Erving Bauder and Zoe Mildred Bauder. She graduated from Lewiston High School (Idaho) and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Abilene Christian College. Later, she obtained a second Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Northwest Nazarene College.
On March 25, 1959, Sue married Richard Lyle “Dick” Dalzell in Twin Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was a lasting partnership grounded in shared faith and love for music and family. Dick preceded her in death in 2009.
Sue dedicated her career to education, teaching elementary music in Nyssa and Ontario, Oregon, and later elementary school in Ontario and at Columbia Christian Schools in Portland. She also gave private voice lessons for many years in Ontario, Portland, and Salem. Her students valued her musical expertise and the warmth she brought to every lesson.
Music was a lifelong passion for Sue. She sang as a soloist and choir member in numerous groups, sharing her voice at weddings, family gatherings, church services, and more.
A baptized and lifelong member of the Church of Christ, Sue’s faith guided her life. She actively participated in Bible Study Fellowship groups and maintained a rich prayer life, filling journals with prayer requests and noting answered prayers.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Dan Dalzell (Lani) and Randy Dalzell (Charlene); grandchildren, Hannah Nobes (Tyler), Micah Dalzell, Caleb Dalzell, Levi Dalzell, Allison Dalzell, DJ Dalzell, and Matthew Dalzell (Mikel-Ann). She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, her parents, and her sister, Mary Zoe Womack.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Eastside Church of Christ, 9030 NE Glisan Street, Portland, Oregon. A reception will follow at the nearby Johnson Center on the Columbia Christian Schools campus.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Columbia Christian Schools or Faithworks of Abilene, Texas.
