

Margaret was born on March 31, 1920 in Austin, Colorado and was the daughter of John and Cora (Adams) Hawkins. She attended school in Cedaridge, Colorado and on May 28, 1938 she married LeRoy McNutt in Grand Junction.
The family moved to Oregon in 1945 residing first in West Linn. They moved to Gresham in 1948 where Margaret worked as a bus driver for the Gresham School District. She retired in 1990 with a perfect safety record. She also worked for Mark’s Bakery in Gresham for 5 years and the Safeway Bakery for 2 years. She was a member of the Rebekah’s as well as served on the board for the Oregon Farm Bureau of Multnomah County. She was a member of the Gresham Free Methodist Church.
Margaret had many interests. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and sewing. She also enjoyed camping and fishing and was a great cook. Family was very important to her and she simply adored time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her children; Eileen Robertson of Gresham, Maxine Finnegan of Gresham and Alva McNutt of Troutdale and her siblings; Charlie Hawkins of Cederidge, CO, John Hawkins of Hotchkiss, CO and Esther Barnett of Cederidge, CO along with 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Her husband, LeRoy and her son, Richard both preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 10:00 am at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm also at Bateman Carroll. Interment will be at Skyline Memorial Park. Contributions may be made in memory of Margaret to the American Heart Association. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
