Margaret Louise Stone passed away on November 29, 2017, in Gresham, Oregon. She was born on October 14, 1933, in La Grande, Oregon, to her parents: Clayton and Ethel (Riding) Coalwell. She attended La Grande High School, and graduated in 1951.
Margaret was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints her whole life. Her faith was important to her and her life reflected that. She used her talents to organize, teach and lead as she served for many years as the church librarian for all the wards in the Hermiston Stake. She has an incredible work ethic. By her example she taught her children and those around her that when you make a commitment, you keep it, and you give it your full effort.
Margaret was very creative and loved to quilt, paint sew, and make crafts. Her family and friends were all the grateful beneficiaries of her efforts.
Margaret will forever be remembered for her many fine qualities. She was brave, determined and strong, yet had a sense of humor. It was these qualities that saw her through some very difficult physical challenges she dealt with her whole life. To those who knew her, she was an example of staying strong in the face of trials.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Clayton and Ethel Coalwell, her brother Victor Coalwell, her sister Helen Coalwell, her son Phillip Stone, and 2 grandchildren. She is survived by 3 daughters, Catherine Higgins, Ann Lindquist and Glenda Davis; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and her siblings, Richard Coalwell, Sharon Hibbert and Doris Franson. She will be greatly missed.
