Marie Cecelia Lewis

Marie C Lewis, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2025. She was born Aug 4, 1944, in Tacoma WA. to Thomas and Elenor Bennett. She graduated from MT Tahoma HS, the school’s first graduating class, in Tacoma WA. Marie lived in Gresham, OR. for the last 35+ years.

Marie married Clifford L. Lewis in Tacoma, Washington in 1964. A U.S. Air Force veteran who served in Vietnam, Clifford died in 2008. The couple later settled in Gresham, Oregon, in 1986 and their marriage spanned 42 years. Marie was also preceded in death by her sister, Irma Green.

Marie is survived by her two sons, Brian and Jason Lewis, and by two grandchildren, Kailina and Korban Lewis, All residing in the Gresham, Oregon area, and Alaska.

She began her Oregon career as an executive secretary in 1987 and transitioned to a librarian analyst role in 1995 at The Oregonian newspaper, where she worked until her retirement. Marie’s love for family, animals, crafts, camping, painting, and dolls, along with her inner strength, brought great joy to those around her. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Services will be held Thursday Dec. 11, at 11am at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, in Gresham, Oregon. A a short cemetery service at Willamette National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with Clifford Lewis will follow.
