Marjorie Ann McGinness, 69, was born August 24, 1957, and died September 26, 2026. She will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who were blessed to know her, and by the many lives she touched through steady care, quiet thoughtfulness, and a heart that made room for others.
Marjorie was adopted by Robert and Cecillia Markworth. Everyone in the family was excited to bring the baby home. She often visited her cousins Chuck and Bob. She was always game for any boy adventures and the boys loved including her. She was the sister they never had.
Marjorie attended Cleveland High School and later continued her education at OHSU School of Dentistry, preparing for a life of service. She worked as a Dental Assistant for Multnomah County Health, bringing diligence and kindness to her work until her retirement in 2008.
On September 14, 1985, Marjorie married Donald McGinness in Portland, OR. They met in church, and their shared faith remained a central part of their life together. They attended Trinity Lutheran Church, where Marjorie’s warmth and welcoming spirit were felt by many.
Marjorie was the mother of daughters Lindsay Ann Mansfield and Kelsy Lynn Bush, and a devoted grandmother to Elly, Brooke, Ava, Avery, Lauryn, Hudson, and Kennedy. Her love was generous and steady—often expressed in the simplest, most meaningful ways, including the kind of embrace that made people feel instantly at home.
In her personal life, Marjorie found joy in gardening and singing—pursuits that reflected her gentle attentiveness and the quiet brightness she carried into everyday moments. She also served her community as a Volunteer Coordinator at West Gresham Grade School, offering her time and care with the same faithful constancy that marked so much of her life.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 507 W Powell Blvd, Gresham, OR 97030. A reception will follow the service at Spinella’s, 436 N Main St in Downtown Gresham.
In lieu of flowers, you are able to donate to Trinity Lutheran Church in her memory.
