Mark W. Myers

Mark Wayne Myers, 66 of Fairview OR, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. He was born on August 5, 1949 in Portland, Oregon to Kenneth Robert Jr. and Ruth Myers. He graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School in 1967 and also attended Portland Community College. He served during Vietnam as a Sergeant in the US Air Force from 1967 to 1971.

Mark married Penny Lee Hicks on July 26, 1969 in Portland, Oregon. He worked for Freightliner from 1971 until his retirement as a technical support manager in August of 2015. He was a member of the NRA and Douglas Ridge Gun Club and enjoyed camping, fishing, shooting, poker with his buddies and floating the pontoon boat on Fairview Lake. Mark loved time spent with his family.

Mark is survived by his wife Penny Myers of Fairview OR; daughters Heather Myers (Brad Bennett) of Portland OR and Kimberly Higgins (Travis) of Portland OR; brother Michael Myers (Debbie) of Portland OR; sister Sandra Brannan (Gary) of Portland OR; sister-in-law’s Holly Hicks of Gresham OR and Marla Jennings (Hershel) of Lakeside OR; parents Bob and Ruth Myers of Troutdale OR; aunt Sue Myers of Troutdale OR; grandchildren Matthew Myers, Madison Brown, Ashton Brown, Cody McMurry, Leah McMurry, Katie McMurry and Curtis McMurry; great grandson Thatcher McMurry and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Abundant Life Church – Happy Valley Campus, 17241 SE Hemrich Road, Damascus OR 97089. Private interment at Willamette National Cemetery. Contributions may be made as donations to the Paralyzed Veterans of America at www.pva.org in lieu of flowers. Arrangements entrusted to Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon.
