

Marybelle was born on April 1, 1923 in Silverton, OR and was the daughter of Lloyd and Leila (Reed) Heinz. She grew up in Scotts Mills, OR and graduated from Scotts Mills High School in 1941. On September 17, 1944 she married Melville Duff at the Silverton Church of Christ, in Silverton, OR.
Shortly after they were married, the young couple moved to the Boring area where they resided for nearly 20 years. In 1972 they built a home in Gresham where Melville retired after working for Reynolds Aluminum for 35 years. They resided in Gresham until the mid 1980’s. Marybelle later moved to Portland.
Marybelle worked as a beautician a couple of years, sold Avon, and also served as a Cub Scout den mother. She found her calling however, in the home and was an amazing homemaker. She kept a meticulous home, was kind hearted and cared for many. She had many talents. She was a wonderful seamstress and made wedding dresses and clothing for many family members and friends. She also perfected the craft of knitting. She enjoyed canning, cooking, and entertaining friends and family. She was generous, sweet and loveable. Marybelle was a fine Christian lady and was simply adored and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son Ken Duff (Wilma) of Damascus, daughter Kathie Duff of Milwaukie, brothers Lloyd Heinz Jr, of Wilsonville, Elvin Heinz of Scotts Mills, and sister, Caroline Jensen of Mulino, along with 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Her husband, Melville and her daughter Susan Secrest both preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Community Church, 28986 SE Haley Rd, Boring OR 97009 on December 3rd at 10:30 am. Private internment will be at Willamette National Cemetery. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
