June 15, 1937 – Feb. 7, 2016
To sum up a life of caring, teaching and loving others in a few words is impossible. We can list the awards and events of her life, but they pale in comparison to the outgoing loving nature of this remarkable woman.
Her loving family writes these notes with a heavy heart. Here are but a few of her many accomplishments.
She was a Spanish teacher at Gresham High School from 1969 to 1995. During this time, she took numerous trips to Mexico with students and friends and arranged many exchange student stays. In 1985, she was awarded the Oregon Language Teacher of the year. She valued this, but never said a word to the world.
She took great pleasure in being a member of Red Hats and thoroughly enjoyed putting together colorful outfits to wear to these events.
She volunteered in many Elks events including the scholarship committee and was a Spanish-speaking volunteer with the youth soccer program. She was also a member of Elks on Wheels.
She was a Spanish-speaking volunteer for Human Solutions.
The page is not long enough to list her services to those around her. Pass onto others her simple gift to everyone: ”BE KIND TO THOSE AROUND YOU”.
