Michael Patrick Donohue

Michael Patrick Donohue was born April 29,1946. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 8, 2020.

Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Marietta Donohue, his only son Sean Donohue, his daughter in-law Cherie’ Donohue, his granddaughters Lindsey and Jillian Donohue, and his siblings Peggy, Kathy and Pat Donohue.

Mike grew up in Portland, Oregon where he graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1964 and the University of Portland in 1968 with a degree in Engineering. It was at the University of Portland where he met his wife, Marietta and they were married on March 20, 1971. After a few years as an engineer, Mike spent 25 years of his life as a police officer serving Multnomah County and Portland. He worked in several different capacities: as a river patrol officer, motor officer, fatal traffic investigator, and as a domestic violence and child abuse detective. He was dedicated to justice and strived to help as many citizens and family members throughout their difficult times.

Mike loved being outdoors spending time at the coast, gardening at his mountain home planting rose bushes and trees, but most of all he loved being with his family, especially his granddaughters. He took every opportunity to talk about the Lord and shared the good news of the gospel with many. Mike will be remembered as a tough man with a tender heart. His favorite moments in life were the simple times, coffee and dessert, dinner out with his family, listening to music, quietly talking on the porch, and taking too many photos of his granddaughters.

We will forever remember him asking “Have I told you lately that I love you?” and him telling us “I love to hear the sound of your voice.” We will all miss the sound of his voice and his laughter. Our comfort is in knowing that Papa will be in heaven to greet us again one day.

Due to Covid-19, a private committal will be held at Mountain View Corbett Cemetery, with a celebration of his life to be held at a later date at Abundant Life Church, in Happy Valley. Please visit Mike's website for updates.
