Molly Heitz

Mary “Molly” Heitz passed away Sunday June 1, 2013 at the age of 90 in Gresham, Oregon. She was born in Portland, Oregon on February 9, 1923 to parents Thomas and Sarah McNamee. She was raised in Portland and attended Holy Redeemer and St. Mary’s Academy, graduating in 1941. While in high school, she met Robert Heitz while at the beach, and they got married in September of 1947. Together they had two sons, Tim and Gary, who they raised to be honest and hardworking.

Molly loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. She was an active member of the St. Ignatius Church Gild. Though she worked for Montgomery Ward’s for a short time in the 1940’s, Molly’s primary job was that of mother and wife. She was always supportive of her sons, and did whatever she could to make sure they were happy and loved. Molly was an honest and fair woman, who deeply loved her family. She especially looked forward to yearly vacations to Washington spent clamming. with her family. After her husband retired, the two of them travelled extensively.

Molly was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert in 1981. She never remarried. She is survived and missed by her two sons Tim Heitz of Portland and Gary Heitz of Gresham, as well as her granddaughter Jamie Heitz of Gresham. Special thanks is given to the kind and caring staff of Courtyard Fountains Assisted Living and Providence Hospice for all of their support. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Meals on Wheels in Molly’s name. A committal service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on Tuesday June 11, 2013 at 2:00pm. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
