

Perry formerly was the Director at the Emergency Management Agency of Rourk County, Maine for 12 years. From 1997 until the present time he was the Emergency Manager for the City of Portland Water Bureau. During “Katrina” he initiated and helped set up Portland’s response. Perry has worked with FEMA and Homeland Security on several projects in Emergency Management. Perry was one of just a few FEMA certified emergency services trainers.
Perry married Cynthia Creevan on valentine’s day, February 14, 2003 in Gresham. Perry lived in Maine before moving to Gresham in 1997. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Gresham. Perry was a member of the American Legion and the Gateway Elks organizations. Special interests included Amateur Radio where he met his future wife Cynthia, backpacking and was very involved with the boy scouts.
Survivors include his wife Cynthia Hopkins of Gresham, OR., mother Helen DeFosse of West Warick, R.I., 3 sons, Danny Hopkins of Gresham, OR., Nick Hopkins of Laramorn, N.D., and Jason Huff of Gresham, OR., 3 daughters Pamela Hopkins of Great Falls, Montana, Melissa Armstrong of Gresham, OR., and Stacey Huff of Gresham, OR. 2 brothers Richard Hopkins of Coventry, R.I., and Steve Hopkins of Springhill, Florida, 3 sisters, Kerry Neuman of Ocean Springs Mississippi, Jill Wright of Cowpens, S.C., and Wanda Scott of Houma, Louisiana and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church located at 346 NW 1st St. in Gresham. Graveside service with military honors will be on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
