He was the first of two children. He is survived by his love of 26 years, Judith Ann Horine, his two daughters Lisa Kay Sievers and Valerie Dawn Sievers, his sister Mardell, his two grandchildren Joshua, and Brittany, and two great-grandchildren Augustus and Benjamin.
Don grew up in Pendleton Oregon on a wheat ranch. Though he lived separately from his sister Mardell and was 10 years older, she has fond memories of him dancing and singing to Elvis and taking her golfing at the country club. Don attended college at San Jose State, where he completed his bachelor’s degree. Don worked for and retired from Lockheed Missile and Space Co as a scientific programmer.
He retired and moved to Oregon with his family in 1993, the same year he was widowed. Living in Oregon he met his long-time love, Judith Horine, and together they adopted and raised one of their grandchildren, Valerie Dawn Sievers. Judy remembers Don as a wonderful, thoughtful and caring man. Don never missed a recital, play or performance that his daughter Valerie was a part of, and even helped to sew her costumes.
Don had many hobbies throughout his life but none he loved more than golf. He was a lifetime member of a Pendleton country club and would always be proud to tell you about the 7 hole-in-ones he had achieved throughout his life. Outside of golf, he enjoyed taking trips to the beach with Judy, working on his 1966 Austin Healy, playing pool, and spending time on his one-acre property in Boring, OR.
Don was a Son, a brother, a father, a grandfather, and a friend, and he is missed greatly by all who knew him. The world is a better place because he was a part of it, and the memories he left here will never be forgotten.
