Randall "Randy" Brian Bush

Randall Brian Bush passed away on December 25, 2024 at the age of 67 in Gresham, Oregon. Randy was born on February 1, 1957 in Seattle, Washington and grew up in the woods in Auburn, Washington at Covington Creek Bible Camp, founded by his parents, Arnold and Halene Bush. He graduated from Inglemoor High School in Bothell, Washington and moved to Oregon in the mid-1970s.

Randy met his wife Becky at Grace Community Church in Gresham, Oregon while teaching Sunday school. On June 27, 1992, they wed in Portland and were married for 32 years. At the time of his death he was a member of Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church in Fairview, Oregon where he served as an elder and worship leader.

Randy loved the forest. His children recall many memorable and spontaneous camping trips where Randy instilled his love of the outdoors to them. He was a dedicated Christian, gardener, forager, artist, writer, poet, keeper of cats, baker, lover of history and books, musician and Beowulf expert. Randy worked as circulation manager at Concordia University Library in Portland until his early retirement and received his Bachelor of Arts in English from Concordia in 2001. Randy dealt with chronic illness most of his life, always with grace, courage, and without complaint. He was a kindhearted person who always put others before himself, was strong in his convictions, and made friends and family laugh with his quirky sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Becky; daughter, April Lara and husband, Tino; son, Justin Bush; daughter, Ashlin Browne and husband, Miles; and seven grandchildren, Roman Lara, Misael Lara, Eliseo Lara, Jackie Bush, Abby Bush, Peter Lewis and Jack Lewis.

A memorial service will be held at Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church in Fairview, Oregon on Sunday, January 19th at 2:00 PM. All are welcome. The service will also be live streamed and can be accessed through this link: https://www.youtube.com/@smithmemorialpres/featured
